Wood Garage Door Staining in Carrollton, TX

This project involved staining a pair of wood garage doors on a residential property in Carrollton, TX. Garage doors face constant, direct sun exposure with almost no shade throughout the day, which is exactly why these had faded to a dull, weathered gray — the wood grain was still solid underneath, it just needed the finish restored.

Our crew started with a light hypo wash, taking about 45 minutes to clean the surface without over-saturating the wood. Once dry, we hand-brushed the stain across both doors, which took roughly 2.5 hours to get full, even coverage into the panel grooves and trim — a spray gun would have left an inconsistent finish on doors with this much detail. Between the prep and staining stages, the full job was completed as a two-day process.

The finished result brought the doors back to a deep, rich tone that matches the rest of the home’s exterior, replacing a faded, weathered look with one that reads as intentional and well-maintained from the street.
